Why I don’t like to spend my whole life in just one city

There is a famous quote attributed to Saint Augustine of Hippo. He says..

The world is a book and those who do not travel read only one page.

Well, I go an extra mile with respect to above saying, besides my love for traveling I even don’t like the idea of spending my whole life in one city. Experiencing new places and cultures often fascinates me, usually we are either bound by a job, business, or family. I opined the fact, the world has a lot to offer; one should explore new things, meet new people, try a different variety of cuisines and discover the opportunities available around the globe.

A country like Pakistan has so many mesmerizing cities and places, and I being a random traveler often fantasize about how it would be like to live every few years of your life in a different city? Sounds weird? I know it is, but for a person doing job, it is somehow possible. Let’s say if you are working in a firm who has its presence across the country then there are chances to relocate to your desired city either mutually with anyone who is willing to come to your city or by requesting your company.

Here is my personal experience of such change. After spending more than 29 years of my life in Hyderabad (a city located in the Sindh province of Pakistan) I got an opportunity which I availed and moved to Karachi often famously known as the city of lights. Although this big leap wasn’t easy for me and my family but eventually we managed to get over this change. This shift brought some radical changes in my life more specifically in my career. I immediately start looking for prospects beyond my umbrella which ultimately open doors to more opportunities and variety of tasks which I had never done before.

Beside career, this city has many more things in its basket. Whether you are planning for a dine out, wanted to go for a long drive on its broad boulevards, or looking for a perfect shopping experience, this city never disappoints. Hundreds of amazing restaurants and shopping malls make sure that your expectations get fulfilled.

It has been only a year in Karachi, but the desire to switch to another city has already started pinning me. This urge led me to write this blog. Don’t know yet what life has for me ahead, but one thing is for sure I’ll try my best not to settle in a city for long.

Next dream city Islamabad..!

Life with a purpose

I often think about our intrinsic need of creation and existence, there isn’t a single thing in this universe created without a purpose. Allah says in Holy Quran

And I did not create the jinn and humans except they should worship Me. [Holy Quran 51:56]

The above ayat gives us clear answer to why jinn and humans are created i.e. to worship Him Alone without any partners. But what about so many other things around us…???

And it is We who have built the universe with (Our creative) power; and, verily, and it is We who are steadily expanding it. [Holy Quran: 51:47]

and

And He it is Who has created the heavens and the earth in six Days and His Throne was on the water, that He might try you, which of you is the best in deeds. But if you were to say to them: “You shall indeed be raised up after death,” those who disbelieve would be sure to say, “This is nothing but obvious magic.” [Holy Quran 11:7]

So, Allah has created everything as a test for us.  This is surely not our final destination as we are here for a very short span of time and then we’ll return to Him and on the day of judgment, we shall have the final exam. In spite of the fact, it is unfortunate that we aren’t preparing enough for the BIG day.

Our goal in this world should be to worship Allah, We must be thankful for all his blessings and do not let worldly affairs distract us from remembering Allah.
